Valentine's Day bilingual activity

 
 THE HARDY TIN SOLDIER

When you teach students a second language you realize that one of the better ways to connect to the students is through songs and stories...
Valentines Day is coming up and I know a great tale to work on with my students... It was such a success and I wanted to share it with you. (This year I will do the English version with 5th graders and the Spanish version with 2nd graders).

The story is "El soldadito de plomo" and you can find it in English as "The steadfast tin soldier" or as "The hardy tin soldier" and it is a great love story between a soldier and a ballerina. You can work on the story and you can use it to go through a huge variety of contents and activities.
I have prepared a beautiful craftivity for you to hang on your walls. You can find it HERE.

I like my students to watch the movie before starting to work on it. Here you have the Spanish and the English versions from youtube.

    I love the activity!!! my son (6 years old) enjoyed the Spanish version of the story and your video to make the soldier is such a great explanation. thanks!!

APRENDIZAJE COOPERATIVO I: AGRUPAMIENTOS

La estructura básica para trabajar con aprendizaje cooperativo se basa en la construcción de grupos heterogéneos en base a diversos citerios: sexo, etnia, perfil de inteligencia, rendimiento académico, nivel de integración, actitud hacia la cooperación, destrezas cooperativas, nivel de disrupción... De cara a sacar el máximo partido de la interacción social en el aula debemos estar abiertos a la utilización puntual de agrupamientos más homogéneos, teniendo en cuenta dos cuestiones: 1. Partiremos de unos equipos-base que serán heterogéneos 2. Los combinaremos con otros agrupamientos esporádicos para la realización de tareas concretas. El tamaño ideal de un grupo de aprendizaje cooperativo es cuatro alumnos porque: 1. Existe suficiente diversidad 2. PROYECTO STRANGER KIDS CURSO 2019-2020. VÍDEO MOTIVADOR

Aunque el curso pasado fue un tanto peculiar porque tuvimos que finalizarlo confinados desde casa realicé un proyecto en inglés basado en la serie Stranger Things, al que llamé STRANGER KIDS, que a mis alumnos les encantó.
